Mercury Child

January 19, 2014

The first track by New Jersey producer Blood Cultures made a big impact last fall. It was and still is immensively populair on Soundcloud but didn’t really convince me, although I definitely heard a lot of potential in it. Gladly his second effort Mercury Child is more my cup of tea. It has that washed out atmosphere that I dig with a lot of little tropical influences. The advice: keep two eyes on this guy.

Starfish Kids

January 6, 2014

Starfish Kids by Nomadic Firs must be the most interesting song I’ve heard so far in the new year. With a toolbox of different genres (shoegaze, lo-fi, chillwave) Tennessee experimentalist Ryan Boos manages to create a light psychedelic trip of nearly four minutes. And it will crawl under your skin, mark my words.

At Night

December 31, 2013

Let’s end this year properly with a really beautiful track by Honolulu’s producer Mr. Carmack aka Aaron Carmack. I had never heard of the man before and I regret that because a lot of his beats are a nice mixture of dance/chillwave and hiphop. And above all he makes music like nobody’s listening, so what you say about that? For now I wish everybody the best in the new year. Keep listening to good music and keep it real.

Last Night

December 7, 2013

Vibes everywhere. Think Com Truise, think Datahowler, but most of all: think 18 Carat Affair. This guy from Kansas City makes really slick sounds. Check out his releases on Bandcamp and slide the night away.
